LolBoard is a small, independent project: one public leaderboard where sites compete for #1, and where the ranking is openly for sale instead of quietly for sale.
Every directory ranks its listings somehow, and almost none of them will tell you how. Editorial picks, launch-day upvotes and “featured” slots all end up sorted by something the visitor cannot see — usually money, occasionally who knows whom.
LolBoard does the obvious thing instead: one spot is for sale, and the ranking is the price. The top row shows the standing bid holding it, so the number a rival has to beat is printed on the board. Everything below is free and sits in listing order. There is no algorithm to reverse-engineer and no editor to email.
Anyone with a site worth putting up against others. A product, a tool, a community, a portfolio, a weekend experiment — if it is real, has a clear purpose and has some reason to want the top spot, it belongs on the board, whatever the domain ends in.
What it is not is a directory. A board where anything can be submitted for exposure has nothing worth winning, so the boundary is editorial rather than technical. The listing rules say what qualifies, and they are the whole of it — there is no algorithm underneath deciding which sites are interesting.
Bids on the top spot, and only those. Listing a site is free and always will be — a board with nothing on it has no top worth buying. There are no ads, no subscription, no paid tier, and nothing on this site is sold to anyone.
We are not in the data business either. Sign-in reads your email address and nothing else, payments are handled by Polar so card details never reach us, and the click counter is a single number per site rather than a log of who clicked. The privacy policy is the long version of that paragraph.
The board is ranked by standing bid, full stop. We do not accept payment to reorder it outside the bidding rules, and we do not put a thumb on the scale for sites we happen to like. The only listings we remove are ones that break the listing rules or the terms.
Click counts are shown to everyone, including the people bidding against you. If the top spot is not worth what it costs, the board should be the thing that tells you.
Bugs, billing problems, takedown requests, or a question the how it works page does not answer — write to hello@lolboard.lol. A person reads it.
